International Service Provider of the Year
Pierce Atwood of Portland won the trade center’s 2005 International Service Provider of the Year award.
From its founding in 1891, Pierce Atwood has grown to be one of the largest law firms in northern New England, with more than 115 attorneys in seventeen practice areas. Over the past 10 years, Pierce Atwood has expanded outside the state, initially following U.S. partner companies overseas, then making their own forays into international markets.
About 15 attorneys are members of the firm’s international practice group, working with private and public sector clients. Pierce Atwood is particularly active in eastern and central Europe. With offices in Albania, Bosnia-Herzegovina, and Bulgaria, Pierce Atwood is assisting these foreign governments in writing laws and regulations for their energy and environmental sectors. The trade center recognizes Pierce Atwood for this as well as their commitment to assisting and mentoring other small businesses in the state of Maine.
