Foreign Direct Investor of the Year

Following an exhaustive search across the United States, T-Mobile/Deutsche Telekom in November 2004 announced their intention to construct a customer call center at Maine’s First Park in Oakland.

The investment is expected to create at least 700 jobs in Central Maine. Ground on the new facility was broken in early 2005, and construction is expected to be completed in the fall.

T-Mobile USA's call center started operations on August 8, 2005 and as of March 7, 2007, 685 employees have been hired. The number of full time employees will eventually increase to 700.

T-Mobile is a part of T-Mobile USA, a subsidiary of Deutsche Telekom, Germany’s leading telecommunications service provider. The trade center recognizes T-Mobile and Deutsche Telekom for this significant investment in the Maine economy.
